Charities that
you can donate to that would be of great help to the Tacoma Elks Lodge
#174 and its benefactors are:
The “Elks National Foundation” (ENF), which covers
Veterans, Hoop Shoot, Boy & Girl Scouts, Scholarships, Drug
Awareness etc. In 2005 Tacoma Elks gave 56 one thousand dollar
scholarships to High School Graduates of which two were from the ENF.
Each member is asked to contribute four dollars per year for this
program.
Our State Major Project “Tall Elks” is in home Therapy for
children with special needs, every penny is paid for by Elks members
and people that care about crippled children.
There are 16 therapists thru out the State of Washington that go into
the families’ home and perform therapy on the children with special
needs. Generally children that can not be taken to the local hospital
or Dr. Office because of their condition or the parents have no one to
take care of other children in the home or their financial situation
is such that they have no transportation. This is for children that
would normally fall thru the cracks! Each Lodge member is asked to pay
fifteen dollars a year for the cost of this project.
Tacoma Elks Lodge also has the174 Lodge Charities program where money
is spent to help those in need in our community, for food, clothing,
rent, utilities, fuel for autos, anything that is a hardship for
people with difficult times in their lives. This is just part of what
we do as the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks!
