Ladies of Elks

The Ladies of Elks is a volunteer organization.  The membership consists of members or the spouses of members of Tacoma Lodge 174.

Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm in the PER Room at the Lodge.  We have a social hour before the meeting starts.  Come and visit, there is no obligation to join.  Dues are $3 per month.

We provide assistance to community members and charities when a need is referred to us.

A favorite charity is the Washington Elks Therapy Program which provides in home therapy for children with serious health problems at no cost to the families.

Our activities include the Spring luncheon where 20+ tables are decorated with various themes; there is a buffet style lunch with home-made desserts, plenty of prizes and gifts.  The entertainment have been fashion shows, gardening tips and dancers from a local dance studio.  Loads of fun.

There is also the Christmas Basket Raffle where donated baskets filled with various goodies are raffled off during November and December.

Assist in the funding of the yearly family Easter celebrations.  Some have the fun of hiding the eggs and watching the children.

We provide some of the baked goods and serve food at various Lodge receptions when requested.

We are Santa's helpers and go shopping for foster children and acres landing clients.  There are several other ongoing projects throughout the year.

On Christmas morning we help with Stocking Stuffer for the local less fortunate families as well as the Elks Family Christmas Party.

We donate toys and prizes for the Family Picnic held on the 3rd Sunday in July.

These are just a few of our projects that are done each year.

Overall our purpose is to provide charitable services to the community and to promote a spirit of cooperation and fellowship within the Lodge.  There are activities to get involved with as well as participating with other Lodges to share their LOE projects and ideas; thus forming new friendships all of which promote the Elks motto:

"Elks Care - Elks Share"
